Angel at Aquaduct
c. 50" x 65

This is our most recent large-scale project; completed in April 2009 after several months. I think the framing and installation work on this particular piece were just as involved as the ceramic work.

The Tarzana, CA client requested an italian scene in keeping with the overall european theme of their decor. As we discussed the project we agreed on a small water feature a depth to the waterway and a functional planter (I hope they plant a vine here...).

Water features can't really be too small because even the smallest pumps need to push a certain amount of water. As usual, this was a learning process. The pond itself is mosaic ovver a foam core.

Another unique challenge was the duo-tone grout on the tile arch, facilitating the illusion of large stones.
